Stability + Mobility: Move WELL

This functional movement class is designed to help you move more efficiently, confidently, and with greater ease by restoring balance between stability and mobility throughout your body. You’ll engage in self-mobilization, myofascial release, and mobilization with movement to reduce tension in stiff areas, while simultaneously building strength and control where it’s most needed.

Using a Pilates-based approach, we emphasize deep core stability, breath coordination, and dynamic control, helping you feel more connected and supported from the inside out. This class is a blend of science-backed movement and mindful awareness that empowers you to take charge of your own body mechanics, nervous system regulation, and self-care.

Expect to use small props such as:

  • Foam rollers

  • Lacrosse/tennis balls

  • Small hand or ankle weights (1–3 lbs)

  • Foam pads or a folded blanket for an unstable surface

Whether you're joining us in-person or virtually, this class will help you:

    • Promote circulation and support connective tissue health through self-massage and targeted mobilization

    • Improve balance, stability, and body awareness (proprioception)

    • Reduce pain and tension caused by imbalances in the kinetic chain or diminished sensory input

    • Build confidence in your ability to care for your body and respond to its signals with greater ease and insight

Who Is This For?

This class is ideal for anyone feeling stiff, restricted, or navigating mobility issues like hypermobility. We take special care to stabilize joints that move too much, while focusing mobility work on the areas that are doing too little. This approach decreases stress on the musculoskeletal system by shifting the movement load to the areas best suited for it.

If left unaddressed, the body will continue to move through more mobile segments—because stiff joints are harder to use, and the body wisely avoids resistance to conserve energy. But this pattern can be retrained so that we aren't encouraging more motion in areas that already move too much, and more stiffness in areas that don't more enough.

By targeting stiff joints for mobility and mobile joints for stability, we can break the cycle. With the right strategy, you’ll stop reinforcing the same imbalances and start feeling more supported, strong, and at ease in your body.
